Scholarships to Study in Ireland for Indian Students

Studying in Ireland can be cheaper if you plan well in advance so you can be offered scholarships by Irish universities and colleges with deadlines. Open to meritorious international students to help them in their studies, these financial aid criteria may be paid in part or in full depending on the course and the institution. Many scholarships and bursaries are also awarded to the Irish government and many private and public establishments as well. When applying for any of these scholarships, make sure that you carefully scrutinize the criteria along with the application closing date.

What are the criteria for Indian students to apply for a scholarship to study in Ireland?

The most important criterion for most scholarships is a good academic score, however, it also depends on factors such as your chosen destination, subject, and level. In some scholarships, factors such as extracurricular activities, and volunteering can also be exploited. Keep in mind that every scholarship has its own eligibility criteria. While in some, a single application may be sufficient, while for others you may have to fulfill several other conditions. For example, in research-intensive programs, you may have to submit written work. If you have any doubt, do not hesitate to contact the admission center of the university.

How much amount is available through scholarship?

The amount available and the type of award varies between institutions. Some research programs may provide up to 100% of tuition fees in addition to covering a portion of your living expenses. You may experience higher competition when you apply for a government scholarship than a university scholarship. Therefore, we suggest that you start the process approximately 8-12 months before you start consuming your choice.

Here are some popular scholarship programs that you can apply to study in Ireland as an Indian student:

1. Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship

Under this initiative, graduates, masters, or Ph.D. Level, if you have been offered to study at an Irish higher education institution. Upon receiving the Ireland scholarship, you will receive:

• € 10,000 stipend for 1 year of study
• Fully funded tuition and other registration costs at a higher education institution

2. The Walsh Fellowship

3. Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship 2021

This scholarship is managed by the Department of Education and Skills and by the Council. This opens an entrance for international students to pursue their research MS and Ph.D. or direct Ph.D. (leading to MS Ph.D.). The zodiac includes: -

• A stipend of € 16,000 per year
• Contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of € 5,750 per year
• Eligible direct research expenditure € 2,250 per year
