What are The Student Visa Requirements for Ireland

The Irish government offers all Indian students in the country the opportunity to study but as a condition, you must first obtain a student visa. The visa you require will depend on your age and the type of study you undertake in Ireland. Here is an overview of the types of study visas and their application requirements:

Documents required for 'D Study Visa' in Ireland

To apply for your study visa, you will usually need:

  • A current passport or other valid travel documents
  • Approval letter from a recognized Irish institution
  • As a mandatory condition, your passport must be valid for 12 months after the proposed date of your arrival in Ireland.
  • Passport size color photos
  • IELTS eg English language proficiency test scores
  • Proof of Fee Payment (This can be either a valid receipt, recorded to an approved student fee payment service or an Irish bank of a university or college with a copy of an electronic transfer fund from the applicant )
  • Proof of funds to provide your living expenses for the duration of your course (€ 7,000)
  • Evidence that is for any gaps in your academic history (if any)
  • Medical insurance statement
  • You may also be asked to provide your biometric information as part of the application process
  • A statement of your commitment that you will leave Ireland at the end of your visa
  • For 'C' visa you need sheets of application form and proof of your return home in the form of attested documents.
  • Evidence of academic ability to pursue your chosen course

When can you apply?
You can apply for a study visa up to three months before your travel date to Ireland. But, if you plan to travel to another state before traveling to Ireland, you must have a relevant visa for that state in your passport before applying for an Irish visa.
